VIDEO TESTIMONIALS - TRUMPET UPPER REGISTER PROGRAM & MORE!
Brian, a professional trumpet player and educator, is now prepared to play Lead Trumpet in most situations! He currently plays in several demanding groups and I have full confidence in his powerful, commanding lead trumpet style he now has gained! He is young and has the ability to take his playing to a level way beyond most average professional trumpet players!
Thomas, a professional trumpet player and educator from Sweden, is now prepared to play Lead Trumpet in most situations. His interest for the near future is landing a gig as lead trumpet on a cruise ship. In my opinion, he could get the call now to go out to sea and I would have full confidence he could easily play lead trumpet and set a good leadership style for the rest of the trumpet section. He is young and has the ability to take his playing to a level way beyond most average professional trumpet players!
Stephen is a professional trumpet player and educator, already possessing a good range and commanding lead/rock style with trumpet! He wanted to up his game by adding some extra high range, endurance and more power and that is exactly what happened! He plays in a very popular cover, corporate, party band in the New Jersey area and is well respected in the community as a fantastic, rockin' lead trumpet player!
Bob is a trumpet player from the era when trumpet players were like the rock stars of today! He has been around the block and has tremendous amount of experience and knowledge in regards to music and trumpet. Like almost all of us, he still had a desire to improve his trumpet upper register and high notes and made the decision to take action and take my 3 month course. Although Bob gained some decent range and endurance, I really feel like he will add another 2 to 3 notes to his top high notes by the end of this year making for a very, very successful outcome of working these 50+ techniques for UPPER REGISTER! Bob, it has been a pleasure knowing you and I hope that we can meet again sometime in the near future. You're a great trumpet player and I wish I had been born during a time when trumpet players were King!i
Travis is a hobbyist trumpet player who doesn't depend on playing his trumpet for a living. Yet, he plays in various groups in his local community including Church. His main focus was improving endurance, sound, and accuracy in the upper register. I remember how he first sounded to me almost 3 months ago and how he sounds now: Travis has developed a more pleasing and rich, resonant tone on notes above the staff. His pitch is more centered and he is more accurate as well. About a month ago, I remember receiving a call from Travis exclaiming that he had just hit his first High F above high C!!! I was personally thrilled because although he may not have realized it at the time, he had achieved almost all notes in the UPPER REGISTER- ( High C, High D, HIgh E, HIgh F, High G....above high c)...something many other trumpet players only dream about. My prediction is that in 6-8 weeks from now, Travis will be playing Double G's ( g above high c ) ! Way to go Travis! Keep up the good work.
This is Manny, professional trumpeter and Maynard Ferguson Tribute Trumpet Soloist! I am featuring both videos of Manny including this video testimony of my 50 techniques to TRUMPET UPPER REGISTER 3 MONTH COURSE and Manny being featured on Maynard Ferguson's Trumpet Song HEY JUDE. You can watch Manny play HEY JUDE in the other video on my sight!
Manny really got fantastic results from my upper register course....he just completed it 10 days ago from the date of this video upload!
Amazingly, he can now play up to Triple F right above Double C!
He started this course with a decent double G, but recently, I have heard him knock Double B's and Double C's out of the park.
One thing is for sure: If I get a chance to watch Manny and his band, New Era Jazz Band, perform some Maynard Solos, I'll be sure put extra gel in my hair as Manny's power and volume is at a level that will part your hair!
Congrats Manny! Absolutely spectacular success from this Course!
YOU MAKE MAYNARD PROUD!
You can watch and listen to Manny in action below. Manny's video testimony marks a first for this site because not only does he talk about the course and what he got out of it, he also demonstrates his proficiency in the Upper Register. Cool!
Jose runs his own Hi-Tech business during the day and turns into a professional trumpet at night!
As you heard at the end of his video, he is dead center and spot on with his high notes!
Not too many guys can just pull a Double G out of thin air and be dead on like Jose, but, of course, that is one hallmark of the pro level, lead trumpet studio musician........
Jose got a fantastic result with this 3 month course, but always keep in mind: The players who get excellent results also worked hard and practiced what was given them....Sorry, but .no miracle pills to swallow in the course!
Don recently completed and graduated the Trumpet Upper Register Course with flying colors! Don's sound now is round, good pitch center, and very pleasant to listen to! Play this video and listen for yourself.
This man has a lot of courage and it is no wonder he didn't have any reservations about tackling the most difficult part of trumpet...the upper register!
For those of you who don't know, The WILD WEASEL MISSION that Don was apart of was practically suicidal:
Those were the brave men that flew in to attract Communist Vietnamese enemy fire so the enemy's location could be identified.
You really have to ask yourself how much courage and bravery it must have taken to force yourself to fly and purposely be fired upon by the enemy????
You probably couldn't even find the right words to express the answer.
-- Currently plays in two 18+ pc swing bands in San Antonio, The Lamplighters Dance Orchestra (www.lamplightersbigband.com ) and The River City Big Band.
Josh is a music minor at Westminster College in Pennsylvania, but a TRUMPET MAJOR at heart! As he states in his video, he will be moving up to a more competitive level next year when he changes his major to Music Education.
He may also be moving to a college or university with a larger more jazz oriented music department....something I have been encouraging him to do.
For being so young (20) and now having already mastered a lot of these techniques in the Trumpet Upper Register Program, the ball is in Josh's court now!
If he so desires and if he keeps practicing as hard and as smart as he is doing now, he could take his playing all the way to the top ranks of trumpet professionals.
Josh will be starting the Intro Top Tier Lead Trumpet Program next week and we will definitely post some excerpts of his lead trumpet playing when he completes that course....STAY TUNED!
Brandon, a full-time professional software engineer, currently plays in a few bands in the Denver, Colorado area including Lead Trumpet in a traditional big band jazz band.
When Brandon started the Trumpet Upper Register Program, he could already play a few notes in the Upper Register including High C, High D, and High E.
However, to make those 3 notes heard and usable on a gig all night, he needed to stretch that range out a lot more and that is exactly what Brandon was able to accomplish.
As he mentioned in his video, he can now get up to Double A which really allows him to be more comfortable in playing High C's through High F's.
As he is making quite fast progress, I wouldn't be surprised at all to find Brandon soaring on Double C's in the not too distant future!
Keep up the good work!
Nick is a professional trumpeter in the South New Jersey, Philly area. He plays in several bands including Lead Trumpet in one of the big bands. With one week left in the Trumpet Upper Register Program, Nick now plays with a bigger sound and now "owns" the Double G....keeps it in his back pocket at all times! As you can hear from his playing demonstration, the Double Bb is starting to make a frequent appearance in Nick's range abilities and it won't be too long before the Double Bb will be in Nick's pocket too! I am also impressed with Nick's sight-reading abilities: I just gave Nick that My Funny Valentine chart ...the original chart as played by Maynard Ferguson...he literally has not had it more than a week. I was really impressed how far Nick had taken that MF chart in only just a few days! I believe that in just another few weeks he could take that piece in to his band, rehearse it a few times, and be ready to go out and perform that Maynard chart! Keep up the fantastic work, Nick - All the best!
When Pat and I first spoke, he informed me that he was a "pressure" player and was curious if my TRUMPET UPPER REGISTER COURSE would help him with that. I assured him that it definitely would because my course incorporates a few of the best "NO-PRESSURE" techniques from other known or mainstream methods. I also informed that the new-found strength that he would experience by the end of the program would also contribute to reducing his mouthpiece pressure.
In the end and after a great deal of very hard work and persistence, Pat succeeded in reducing the pressure he was using while increasing his high range a few notes to boot! I think the reduction is in the 20% range which is very good after only a few months. However, if Pat keeps working and improving the 60 Techniques he now "owns", by the end of the year, he might actually only be using 50% pressure from when he and I first met....and that will make life playing trumpet so much easier!
Send me the video, Pat, when you perform Maynard Ferguson's "MY FUNNY VALENTINE"
Hello Mr.Kurt, thank you very much for accepting me in your FB acct. Im one of your big fans regarding playing higher notes on trumpet. when i first saw your youtube videos giving lessons in higher notes especially the bud MP exe. I was so amazed then I tried the what you called Bud mp technique, but I started using fluglehorn mp till now for 2weeks, before i got D above the staff but when I tried that bud mp tech. i got E above the staff but still not solid E but atleast I can hit the E above the staff. Anyway I graduated in University of the Philippines College of Music major in trumpet on 2003...but still can hit only D above the staff because I did not practise tpt consistent or every day since I graduated because I got married and decide to have a bussiness, but now Im going back seriously on my horn... and I hope I can hit that higher notes so that I can apply it in some jazz gig. Thank you so much Mr.Kurt
Well, Kurt you were right this time. At first thought, having a trumpet lesson by phone doesn't seem doable, but once I actually had you on the phone, it was like you were here in my living room......in New York! I just wanted to say thanks and you can make me famous by putting my email up on your site! hahaha. Your 4 month program took my range from a weak double F to a SOLID double A....I can play GIVE IT ONE now!!!!!!!!!!!
Herb Shapiro, White Tie Big Band
You are amazing. Im 13 and im grade 5, so ive mastered double tounging, but triple tounging is harder. This video really helped me!
The Trumpet is a great instrument whether jazz trumpet or solo trumpet, but requires a very strong embouchure. What kind of trumpet notes require this type of strong embouchure? High C, Double C, and Triple C all would require a strong embouchure to play these high trumpet notes. A trumpeter must take trumpet lessons to increase skill level. Trumpeters like Maynard Ferguson playing the trumpet solo, Give It One, and Bill Chase playing the trumpet solo, Get It On, had a very strong trumpet embouchure. Trumpets are made out of brass and make a beautiful sound when used in trumpet songs. James Last Orchestra also featured many fine trumpet players. This site has trumpet tips, trumpet websites, trumpet sites, trumpet teachers, trumpet tutors, and trumpet lessons. Don't forget about TPIN, Trumpet Player's International Network, ITG, and International Trumpet Guild.
